Intrinsic to REMBuild’s multifaceted design and development project at Colonel Frank Seely Academy in Nottingham was electrical innovation, provided by Peter James White Electrical Ltd. The renovation project spanned new washrooms, office spaces and Food Technology Resource rooms, including electrical upgrading to more environmentally-sustainable electrical and lighting solutions.


In the washrooms, each of the nine individual cubicles were installed with new LED disc lights and ventilation (extraction fans), as well as eco hand-dryers. The main area of the washrooms was fitted with new 600×600 LED panels, including emergency lighting, all operated via motion-detection for lower energy consumption and subsequent operating cost.


Likewise, new motion-operated 600×600 LED panel lighting and extraction system were also installed in the office space, as well as two-compartment trunking fitted around the perimeter of the room and corresponding sockets to suit the new desk/workstation configuration.




The electrical upgrade extended to the Food Technology Room with the coordinating installation of new 600×600 LED panels, including emergency lighting fitted near the exits, and the replacement of the existing outdated fuseboard for a Hager 6-way TP&N distribution board, incorporating RCBOs for all socket circuits and lighting, as well as new circular LED lighting fitted in the store rooms.




Furthermore, power was wired to: eleven hobs, eleven ovens, integrated island-bench sockets, new fridge positions and a height-adjustable desk for pupils and staff with physical requirements, incorporating a hob within the rise-and-fall workstation. A new 12-inch extractor fan was fitted to the window to ventilate room and two-compartment trunking was installed around the Teachers’ interactive whiteboard to further enhance the teaching and learning experience for the pupils of Colonel Frank Seely Academy in Nottingham.
