Mount St Joseph Catholic School (Bolton)


Commercial Electrical Specialist, Peter James White Electrical Ltd, ‘conducted’ the electrical component of REMBuild Ltd’s innovative transformation of Science and Food Technology rooms at Mount St Joseph Catholic School.


In the four laboratories in the Science Department, work consisted of removing redundant cabling and rewiring the electrics in accordance with the new island-bench layout and configuration in each laboratory, installing integrated pedestal socket-boxes to enable accessibility for experiments and scientific demonstrations on the new multipurpose workstations.


With regards to Health & Safety, Peter James White Electrical Ltd installed new gas-guard systems, along with Carbon Dioxide (CO2) monitors, as well as supplying new power to the fume cupboard, including the extraction system.


In the Food Technology Department, the upgrade of the Cookery Room included: wiring a new submain to accommodate the increased power-demand on account of the number of cookers, installing a 35mm 5-core SWA and 125 amp 8-way TP&N board. Twelve new cookers and hobs were wired at each cooking station, as well as an accessible cooker and a height-adjustable desk for pupils and staff with physical requirements, incorporating a hob within the rise-and-fall workstation.




New power was supplied, and new sockets were installed, to serve the white-goods appliances, such as refrigerators, dishwashers, washing machines etc. Furthermore, four extraction fans were fitted and wired within the windows, equipped with controls positioned at the Teacher’s workstation.


With regards to more energy-efficient, sustainable lighting systems within the school’s electrical infrastructure, new LED lighting was installed within the new ceiling structures in each room, including alterations to existing lighting, as well as new interactive whiteboards and corresponding power supplies to further enhance the teaching and learning experience for the pupils at Mount St Joseph Catholic School.
