Peter James White Electrical Ltd provided a complete electrical upgrade in REMBuild Ltd’s renovation of the old science laboratory into the new Food Technology Centre at Helsby High School in Cheshire.

The electrical upgrade involved stripping out the existing electrics and replacing the single-phase supply with new 3-phase supply. A 6-way TP&N and 3-phase Fuseboard was fitted and, from this supply, twelve new cookers and an integrated hob were installed, as well as multiple ring-mains for appliances and a ring-mains supply to the utility area (dishwashers, fridges, washing machines etc).

Additionally, two Dimplex over-door heaters were fitted to provide heating to the rooms, as well as a twelve-inch fan and controller to manage the ventilation, including dispersing steam and cooking smells from the room. Furthermore, height-adjustable desks in the sit-stand working area were installed for pupils and staff with physical requirements, incorporating a hob within the rise-and-fall workstation.

With regards to the new I.T. and A.V. facilities, power was installed to the media wall and new 3-compartment trunking was installed within the adjacent Prep Area/Office for the suite of computers.
