Manchester Heliport | Helipad & Headquarters (Barton-Upon-Irwell)

Peter James White Electrical Ltd completed a range of projects at Manchester Heliport.

Externally, the floodlighting for the helipad was replaced with 100w floodlights, fitted with a new, nocturnally-activated photocell, assisting the safe take-off and landing of helicopters during the evening.

On the first-floor corridor of the Headquarters, Peter James White Electrical Ltd was requested to devise a more energy-efficient, environmentally sustainable lighting solution. Consequently, the existing 28w 2D bulkhead lighting system was replaced with smart 14w LED equivalents, including integrated energy-saving motion sensors and corridor-function, thus enabling the lights to dim to 20% when no presence is detected and therefore reducing the amount of time the lights are in full operation, which can reduce operating costs and, with regards to Energy Management, reduces light consumption, energy waste and environmental impact (Carbon Footprint).

The continuing commitment to more sustainable electrical/lighting practices extended to the large ground floor corridor where all 600×600 tubular (2ft fluorescent) lights were replaced with new longer-lasting, more durable (less recycling) LED panels, decreasing the wattage down to half and, accompanied by ceiling-mounted PIRs (motion-sensors), the lights automatically turn off and reactivate when someone is present. Consequently, these smart energy-solutions can lower electricity bills, as well as saving the Manchester Heliport staff and tenants from having to switch the lights off in each room/area/zone when not in use.
